Preparations for the attack on the HQ.

Pie looks at the partial map on his wall. It would be the most complete map he would have in the foreseeable future, since the connections between all Phoenix bases had no doubt been severed by that time. All Western outposts, anyway.
In the middle of the map and in a few streaks across the sides, there were blank spots. These places had not had time to be located.
The map is dotted everywhere (except the blank spots) with blips of different colors: Two green, a few yellow, and a ton of red. Sitting comfortably in the larger of the two green blips, Pie knew the entire Memzakian army was in for a struggle if it wanted to approach the central HQ.

I walk into the room ready for the news.
I am greeted by the sight of a large partial map on the wall. I look at it for a while.
"Well done Pie. This map has a ton of valuable information." I said.
I knew we'd need reinforcements and luckily the urgent message I sent before the defense of the west outpost has worked its magic. Reinforcements from the mainland have been flown in and are going to join us in battle very soon. We'd need them if we wanted to expand our green dots outwards and lessen the numbers of those pesky red dots.
"Pie, let's hope the probe-ress carries us forward and clears up those blank spots on the map. Reinforcements should be here soon, they were flown in from the mainland." I said.
I then looked back at the map again. There was a lot to be done, but it has to be done. Perhaps someone should spy on them? But who is up for it? We need to find out as much information as possible.
(by spy I mean speak to foxtrot on the chat and ask him crucial information about his main base and now get discovered to be a Memzakian Army member...)

Pie: I think I can send the drones to leech information from them, but you'll need to helidrop them over the blank spots. They should automatically detect communication wires.
As to those red dots, you can correctly assume they aren't good. Each is an untaken Phoenix outpost. We won't need to take all of them but we will have to pass them and their armies, and each has at least the same armies that they had here. More, in most cases: This was one of the more unimportant stations, mostly for research purposes. Things get steadily worse as we approach the HQ. We don't know the exact location of the HQ, but if we can get a probe that close we should be able to sniff it out somewhere.
OOC: I daresay my alter-ego will work fairly effectively in chat for spying.

"Could you produce a smaller version of this map that I could upload into my memory chip? It would be nice to have it nearby for analysis." I said. (OOC: A png version of it on paint, with blank spots as large grey splodges.) "Well done Pie on finding a spy to learn as much as possible about the foxtrot army." I said.
Estimated time until arrival of more troops: 2 posts. When they arrive we'll try and use them to help attack and capture the next closest West Outpost. (which is either B, C or D)
"If the green dots are our settlements - which are only our first settlement and this West Outpost A - and the red dots are all the other phoenix army outposts... What are the yellow dots?" I asked Pie after glancing at the map again.

Pie: The yellow dots I am unsure about. I can tell there's coordinates there, but the stream was cut before I finished discovering what. All I know is it involves S__E_ _E__O_S. No clue what that is. I'll get that mobile version of the map ready soon.

"Good work Pie. With both making a mobile version of the map and with your spy network with the group known as anonymous.' I said.
Time until reinforcements arrive: 1 post.
"Which outpost do you think is the weakest, West Outpost B, C or D?" I asked.
|
|
|
Post by Qwerty on Nov 17, 2010 14:48:19 GMT
Pie: They seem to be at about the same strength, but to get to Outpost D we'll have to pass near Outpost B.

"Reinforcements are here! They have been dropped off near to Outpost B. They are large, but not large enough to take the outpost safely. We'll need someone to go with his legion and help them out. Judging from this map, Outpost B is slightly smaller than A. I've also sent for our scientist to use the newly acquired remote weather manipulation to drastically change outpost B's temperature so that the snow melts away. This would make our assault easier and confuse them." I said.
I looked at the map as a new green blip appeared very close to outpost B's red blip.
"How's progress with your probes? I heard they were completed recently, how long until we can get them to those blank spots?" I asked.

Whenever we pay from the Memzakian bank to make them and get a helicopter ready, I suppose. I'll have to go with the helicopter, they have yet to be tested in the field and as I totally forgot to give them a GPS, I'll need to watch its path in case it breaks down, so I can go down and fix it.

"Good luck."
...and with that the helicopter landed outside and was being loaded with a probe.

Pie came out, shivered, came back in, came out again with at least 5 heavy jackets on, and got onto the helicopter.
Pie: It'll take come calibration to the location, so when we find a connection with the probe we'll have to hover for a few minutes while I calibrate it.

"Wow, even with large scale habitat improvement the weather is still too cold for you? It might not be tropical but at least it's above freezing. " I said. As being above freezing at the south pole is quite an achievement.
Although I still am waiting for Pie to message my phone with the mobile version of the map.

"Whoopsie, sorry Artifact I wasn't paying attention there. Silly me! Thanks!" I said.
"Alright troops, head out to the airships, we'll be dropped off with the other army close to the west outpost B. This outpost isn't as big as A, the one we just conquered, but it is still sizeable." I said.
With that we all head out to multiple airships to join up with the reinforcements. I won't be wearing project athena this time due to it being damaged and being tested on. (As in, they are not ready yet and haven't actually been paid for yet)
We should be there by next post.

Flying over the area, a helicopter, full of Stick-Rangerites (including me, and the pilot) has mechanical problems, and the helicopter explodes, though no fire reaches the area where we're waiting. A bunch of Stick-Rangerites (The boxer legion) and I fall out onto the ground. Most of us say see something like "Ow," and get up. I say over the radio "Well, we're here."

My soldiers and I are dropped off by the reinforcements army. They are massive! About the size of the whole army of the west outpost. Mostly cytronians, but there were a couple drones from the drone core and pyro's from the biopunk legion. They also had 4 Cytronian queens being the hive mind hub for four parts of the army. (which is the same amount of queens we have for the west outpost) When we take the west outpost B we'll station the queens in the middle in a similar fashion to how we did for the west outpost A.
"Alright troops, today we take the West Outpost B! For the Army!" I said.
"YEAAAH!" They all replied.

I pulled the SR legion aside. "OK, men. I know each and every one of you personally, right?" "Right! Rank S Lev!" The soldiers replied. "Don't call me by my rank unless we're in battle, or it's a formal occasion, alright?" "Yes, sir!" "OK, I've trained each of you group by group, so I assume you know how to use the tech, right?" "Yes, sir!" More quietly, I said: "I'll discuss tactics for each group now. Boxers, you guys will attack any infantry, but also try to rush the base. Gladiators, you'll be our melee anti-tanks. Whippers, you'll also help with the infantry, but unlike the boxers, you won't be leaving for the enemy base. We need you on the line. All melee classes, you'll be going right after the Riders, in a wave. Snipers, we need you to pick off the infantry. Gunners, you'll be taking out some tanks, but you'll rush the base with the boxers. Grenade Throwers, focus on the tanks again. Remember, your grenades have larger splash this time, so be careful not to harm your fellow men. All ranged classes will go in a wave after melee. Magicians, with your new explosion magic, you'll take out the tanks. Conjurers, your chain wand is more suited to killing large groups of infantry, so that's what you'll do. Enchanters, you'll run in and stab the infantry with your double knife, serving much the same function as the conjurers. However, you'll storm the base as the magic class for our little group. All Magic classes will come in a wave fter ranged. Conjurers and Magicians, stay back behind the ranged classes. Enchanters, join up with melee. Priests, you'll serve as the support class for the magic classes, providing an offensive or defensive aura. With the weakness of your wood staff, (although it's much stronger than your previous staff), you should only attack infantry. Medics, you'll go with the melee men and attack the infantry with your sharp scalpel, healing melee classes with the damage you make. You'll storm the base. Medalwalkers, stay with the ranged classes and also pick off the infantry. All support classes will come in a wave behind Magic and go to the positions of their respective classes. Wheel Riders, you'll mob the tanks. Attempt to outmaneuver them, and circle them when you shoot. Dragon Riders, fly over the enemy troops and try to take out large groups of men. No Riders will storm the base. Both Rider classes will come first. Stealth Gladiators, you'll come in behind everyone. Try to seep in unnoticed through the ranks, and you'll have to fight melee. You'll storm the base, which gives you a chance to truly put your stealth to work. The Classes that will be storming the base are the Boxers, for melee, gunners, for ranged, enchanters, for magic, medics, for support, and the Stealth Gladiators, for, obviously, stealth."

Ahh...
*Everything goes quiet, only the nature around is still singing it's voice.*
*Raises Alderstock in hand*
*Prepares to strike the edge of the base at about 150 yards. The noise will problably hurt everyone's ears.*

Whilst next to Elton I realized what he was about to do and touched him on the shoulder telling him not to. We both know that if he uses Alderstock like he was about to, it would upset the nature of this universe and probably warp it out of this universe forever... (Due to a weird law of nature in this universe, called the godmod law) But he may use it if it doesn't break that law, just be careful. If it breaks through that wall, it'll break the law. But if you get support then it won't.
"Wait for the first strike and then charge. All you reinforcements, I believe I've uploaded all the tactics into your hive mind queen. Devastators, when you form group together in a squad of twelve. We'll go straight for the wall and once we get through you twelve will go for the command center. We'll back you up a bit after that. For the army!" I said.
All was quiet as we waited for the first strike and then would charge at the wall to try and break through it while it was still weakened by the blast from alderstock.

Whispering to Memzak
"The goal was to make a loud noise on the inverse side of the base. Most forces will drag itself to the noise. That leads them open to attack Seeing as I am also making the noise next to there weak side."

Also whispering I say, "Right, I knew that. (OOC: lolnoIdidn't) Everyone, wait for the bang. Devastator squad, swarm around and attack from the opposite side of the base. Cytronian army alpha, attack from the right flank, cytronian army beta, from the left. Delta and Omega attack full on."
And with that we awaited the bang.

"Like I'd break Godsmod Law with Alderstock when we are not in a bad situation*
Saying this, I rolled my eyes and unleashed fury. The base was intact, even Elton couldn't remove the actual physical blast. Though he made it very weak. The noise went higher and higher pitch (Think of the Ringwraiths in Lord of the Rings) and then popped. Followed by a blinding white light and an explosion making a semi circle on one side of the base. Tens of thousands of Square meters of landscape lay wasted. The base was intact. And the area of the blast was just on the edge. Followed was smoke. The smoke wasn't supposed to be there. But it made the base inhabitants think that they were being attacked recently.
"Alright, Memzak, you and me have the correct Athena Module on. Turn on Stealth Mode (Invisibility, save a little shimmer) and follow me"
I start to walk torwards the base at a near invisible speed.

Well, at least we'll have another green dot on the map, I guess.
My helicopter is hovering somewhere far, far away from the battle. It touches down, and I deploy the probe. I follow it some distance from the helicopter while it tracks down a network, and eventually it digs into the ground and begins breaking into the network.
Pie: Excellent... Hey, pilot, mind flying over here a little more?
As the helicopter flew toward me, a missile came from somewhere in the South. It got a direct hit on the missile, and blew it's tail to pieces. The rest of the helicopter hit the probe. Pie was, luckily, standing far enough from the probe to merely get knocked over by the explosion.
Pie: Well... This isn't good.
Another helicopter, of a different color, begins approaching the scene from the South.
Pie: This definitely isn't good.

I reminded elton that we aren't attacking the main HQ, just west outpost B. Which is why it's only a minor battle as west outpost B is smaller than west outpost A.
"You mean I had my athena armor this whole time?" I said as I looked down and saw a slight shimmer. "Silly me, I must have left it with invisibility on, but not set it to make me invisible too. " I said.
I reach inside a side pocket and grab two knives.
"Yes! The knife system works! Oh yea, stealth time." I said I pressed two buttons, one makes the armors normal color the darkest black possible which reflects next to no light at all. The second button makes me and the armor invisible in unison.
"I'm ready elton. " I said as I followed him and threw knives towards the guard patrol on the wall of the west outpost B. With the the armor's improved accuracy, seeing and general all rounded features, 11 out of 12 gaurds men fell from the wall dead. The one I missed saw something and picked it up (probably a penny) and managed to not get killed, but then I threw another knife and killed him like a sitting duck.
"The wall is blind, the patrol dead." I said, wondering where we'd enter the base and how long it'll take for teh 12 devastators to join us on the inside.
I then got a distress signal from Pie's helicopter, just before it was abruptly cut. I dearly hope pie was okay. At least he brought 5 jackets to survive in the cold. If there are enemy soldiers that spotted him, then there could be a problem. I guess we'll have to find out later though, as we first need to take this west outpost B.

"Shall I destroy the wall?" After getting an affirmative from Memzak, "OK! Grenade Throwers! Throw your frags at the wall!" There was an explosion. The wall was now breached. "Men, remember the tactics! Waves! ADVANCE!" We charged through the wall.
